Joseph Bembridge

A native of Canmore, Joe teaches Diva, Diva, Diva! classes. A graduate of Victoria School of Performing and Visual Arts, he also studied at Concordia University with a Major in Theatre Performance. He is founder and artistic director of the Carney Collective.  Joe works with both local Banff schools and has directed annual plays and musicals at the high school since 2011. He is the founder and director of Banff Pride and a 2014 Banff Shine Nominee!

Myka Breymann

Myka has been dancing since she was a toddler and teaching since the age of 14. She is also a teacher at the High School in Banff. Myka teaches Tap and Burlesque and brings her exceptional technique, lines and fabulousness to everything she does! IKA BOOM is Myka’s Puma name!

 

Catherine Dafoe, “Hala Jamal”

Catherine teaches dance, yoga, and mediation at the studio. She began a life-long love affair with MIddle Eastern Dance in 1999. She has completed Hadia’s 3 Teacher Training Courses as well has Professional Courses with Hadia and Yasmina Ramzy. She traveled to Turkey and Egypt in 2011 and performs weekly at the Balkan Restaurant in Banff. In 2012 she was selected as a contestant for the reality TV show, Project Belly Dance.
Catherine’s second love affair is with yoga. She prefers hot yoga but enjoys all styles. She is a Level 2 Baptiste Power Vinyasa Teacher and AntiGravity Certified Aerial teacher. Catherine has a degree in Education and a Bachelor degree in Fine Arts.

 

Kaeleigh Doherty

Raised in Banff, Kaeleigh teaches yoga. She completed her yoga teacher training in the cobblestone streets of old Montreal at Centre Luna in 2011. There, she studied under Jivamukti Teacher, Jennifer Maagendans, as well as Dawn Mauricio, & Bram Levinson. Kaeleigh has attended nearly 200 extra hours of other workshops with renowned yoga teachers across Canada and United States. In May 2016, she launched the first annual Banff Yoga Festival.

Erin Evans

Erin Evans is a spiritual gangster and one of the most popular yoga teachers in the Bow Valley. She has studied Ashtanga and Power Yoga with teachers around the world. She also leads retreats and Teacher Trainings. You might also know of her as Lil’Snap – the name chosen for her by Miss Ellen Q and the Pumas!

Elisa Fioranzato

Elisa teaches Regga Jam classes. She was born close to Verona, Italy and moved to Canmore in 2009. She started dancing when she was 4 years old and she has 18 years of experience in modern, jazz and contemporary dance.  Her true passion is Latin and Hip-Hop, which she draws from to offer energetic and sensual classes.  Elisa wishes to empower her students with strength and confidence through the power of music and the beauty of creative movement.

Marc Geestman

Marc teaches Budo Taijitsu. He grew up just outside of Amsterdam, The Netherlands, where he began training in the martial arts when he was 5 years old. During his extensive martial arts career, he has studied, taught and competed in many different countries and styles. He now has black belts in several martial arts, and is excited to share some of his experience with the community.  He currently works as an Educational Assistant at Banff Community High School, teaches Women’s Self Defense for the Town of Banff and the Town of Canmore, and is a proud father of two daughters.

Fiona Groves

Fiona teaches FIT (Fun Interval Training) classes. Originally from Australia, Fiona moved to Banff in November 2006 and found her FIT home in the mountains!  In 2010 Fiona turned her passion for health, wellness and fitness into her career and became a certified Personal Trainer.  She then went on to obtain certifications in Group Fitness and Nutrition Coaching, as well as Fitness Kickboxing and TRX.  Fiona‘s goal is to inspire and motivate others to lead healthy, fit and fulfilling lifestyles and she leads by example in everything that she does.  Fiona is also a successful fitness competitor and she loves the challenge of preparing for her competitions.

Maria Guilhon

Maria is famous in the Bow Valley for the mega-watts of energy she gives to all her classes! Maria teaches Zumba and Zumbatonic and is sure to motivate all her students to push themselves! Maria has a background in Ballroom Dance and loves kite surfing as well!

 

Sam Hogg

Sam teaches Funk dance classes. Hailing from Manchester, UK, Sam attended a Theatre Dance School from the age of 2. Sam is trained in Ballet (RAD) and Modern & Tap (IDTA). She spent most of her time performing in various showcases whilst at School and University as well as at the Commonwealth Games. Whilst living in London, UK she attended classes and courses at the world famous Pineapple Dance Studios. With her own flavor of street dance, she lives by the philosophy “great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion” (Martha Graham).

Kristen Johnson

Kristen has been instructing STOTT Pilates since 2012 and received her STOTT Level 1 certification in 2014. Her background in group fitness instruction and love of sport and movement led her to discover the benefits of Pilates, both as a strengthening and restorative practice. The focus in Pilates on proper alignment and balanced musculature has helped her offset imbalances created by her work as a dental hygienist and has enhanced her strength, movement and flexibility on her mountain bike, cross country skis and snowshoe adventures with her black lab Chester.

 

Tara Koenig

Tara teaches yoga and chakra classes. She trained with Power Yoga Canada and Baptiste Power Yoga Institute (Level 3). In the spring of 2016, she fundraised for a service trip to Kenya to support Africa Yoga Project. She has supported this organization for years through the mentorship program and the sale of her handmade Malas. Tara also teaches Acro Yoga and SUP yoga (Stand Up Paddleboard) in the Bow Valley. Her classes focus on alignment, strength and flexibility and getting each student to step into their own power.

 

Danielle Leigh

Danielle Leigh teaches ballet and pilates. A long time resident of Canmore, she holds a Diploma in Dance, with focus on Contemporary, Ballet, Contact Improvisation, Dance Therapy and Dance for Film. She is also a certified Yoga and Pilates instructor. She places emphasis upon training the whole person – body, mind and spirit – all the while working to draw out the deep creative spark within each of us!

 

Kim Mayberry

Studio Owner Kim Mayberry teaches barre, HIGH fitness, dance, and children’s classes. She has taught dance and fitness classes in the Bow Valley since 2003. She began her formal training as a Belly Dancers in 2003 and completed  Level 1&2 of Hadia’s Middle Eastern Dance Teacher Training Certification. In 2006, she traveled to Turkey and performs weekly at the Balkan Greek Restaurant in Banff. He love of dance led her to dabble in jazz, hip hop, Nia, African, Polynesian, Brazilian, Flamenco and Funk dance. She is honoured to join Miss Ellen Q on stage as one of her Pumas (background dancers). She has her AFLCA (Alberta Fitness Leadership Certification of Alberta) certification in Group Fitness, Barre Training Level 1 & 2 from Barre Body Studio in Calgary, and is a HIGH fitness certified instructor. She loves facilitating effective, safe and FUN classes – it’s her passion!

 

Margarita Montaner

Margarita teaches Flamenco, Zumba, and Couples Dance. Born and raised in Mexico City, Margarita began dancing at 5 years of age. She has a degree in Tourism and Travel and is a dance instructor in Ballet, Mexican Folk, Flamenco and Classical Spanish Dance. Margarita is a professional Spanish dancer, a former member of the Mexican National Dance Company, a certified Fitness Instructor with the Alberta Fitness Leadership Certification Association, a certified Zumba instructor and a Hatha Yoga teacher in training with the Yoga Association of Alberta. In addition, Margarita has expanded her training by taking numerous workshops in Flamenco, Ballroom, Country and Latin dance in Mexico, Spain and Canada. She accompanied the internationally-renowned Latin guitar player, Pavlo in Calgary.

 

Melissa Watt

Melissa teaches children and adult Ballet classes. Edmonton, Alberta native Melissa Watt studied dance at Victoria School of the Arts. She was accepted into the School of Toronto Dance Theatre in 2011 where she has worked with a multitude of renowned choreographers. She is honored to have received both an individual artists’ grant from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and the Hnatyshyn Foundation Developing Artists Grant for Contemporary Dance in 2013. Upon her recent graduation from the School, Watt attended the 2014 Canada Dance Festival where she performed works by Kate Alton and Tedd Robinson. She recently joined Miss Ellen Q’s Pumas as a back-up dancer for the popular performer.

 

Mai Yamagishi

Mai teaches comtemporary dances. Mai Yamagishi is a Banff local and a graduate of University of Calgary concentrating in Performance and Choreography. She has spent five years learning from well-established dance instructors within the Calgary dance scene. Throughout the years she has performed in numerous shows in various styles. She has years of experience teaching children and teenagers through dance as well as figure skating. Her goal is to apply all the knowledge from University to the students at a young age so they can be influenced and motivated to continue dance later in their adulthood.
